HISTORY OF CRICKET

The sport of cricket has a known history beginning in the late 16th century England. Cricket became an established sport in the country in the 18th century and developed in 19th and 20th centuries. Now a days cricket became an popular sport after football(Soccer). International matches have been played since the 19th century. Test matches are considered from 1877. Cricket is the second most popular spectator sport after football.  

Internationally, cricket is governed by the international cricket council(ICC), which has over one hundred countries and territories in membership although only twelve currently play test cricket.

Currently test cricket plays only eleven members only. also currently t20 is had highest reach then test match. because of time, test match takes five days to finish but t20 takes half day that's why t20 has highest reach then test cricket match.

Cricket continued to grow, and various nations formed cricket boards. The introduction of limited-overs cricket in the 1960s, followed by the cricket world cup in 1975, added a new dimension to the game. The 21st century witnessed the rise of T20 cricket, bringing a faster and more dynamic format.

Today, Cricket is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and enjoys a massive global following, with major tournaments like the ICC cricket world cup capturing the world's attention. The cricket produced legendary players, iconic moments, and a diverse array of formats, contributing to its enduring appeal.

FIRST WORLD CUP

On This Day in 1975, WEST INDIES
Won First Edition of World Cup 

The inaugural cricket world cup was hosted in 1975 by England, the only nation able to put forward the resources to stage an event of such magnitude at the time. The first three tournaments were held in England and officially known as the prudential cup after the sponsors prudential plc. The matches consisted of 60 six ball overs per team, played during daytime in the traditional form, with the players wearing cricket whites and using red cricket balls. In this world cup match west indies wins the first world cup in 1975, who defeated Australia by 17 runs in the final at Lord's. Roy Fredricks of west indies was the first batsman who got hit-wicket in ODI during the 1975 world cup final.
